Massive Forza Motorsport 7 Downloads Won’t Impact Xbox One S owners

When Forza Motorsport 7 was announced for the Xbox One S, Xbox One X and PC, there was some really interesting information released. Specs, resolution, drive space required, etc. Of course, it was noticed that the title will require a whopping 100GB and suddenly everyone started to lose their shit. 100GB? For those gamers that have a 500GB Xbox One S, that’s a chunk of charge that they’ rather not part ways with. And to be fair, that’s a lot of space required no matter how you look at it. Remember when people got upset with Gears of War 4 was using 50GB for its install?

Well, Microsoft jumped into the fray and dropped some more information that helped clear up the confusion.  During a conversation with Stevivor, Microsoft stated that the 100GB install size was only due to the 4K assets. Those 4K assets that which will be utilized by the Xbox One X (and PC). Meaning that Xbox One S owners that pick up Forza Motorsport 7, won’t have to worry about losing all of their space. It’s worth mentioning that Xbox One X users will get those 4K assets regardless if they have a 4K TV/Monitor or not.

That’s without saying that Xbox One X owners will need to watch out what they download. Otherwise, they’ll likely run out of room, if Forza Motorsport 7 is any indication of the perils of 4K gaming. I guess that means we better get those external drives ready.

Forza Motorsport 7 releases on October 3 for the Xbox One and Windows 10, with the Xbox One X version being released alongside the console’s launch.
