After a lengthy development journey marked by multiple closed betas, HoYoverse’s urban fantasy action RPG Zenless Zone Zero is finally making its way to Steam. The game, which spent considerable time in testing phases before its full launch, has clearly benefited from all that player feedback from the prior releases and it’s about to reach an even wider audience now that the game is finally heading to Steam.
Alongside the Steam announcement, HoYoverse confirmed that Version 2.8, titled “New: Eridan Sunset,” goes live on May 6. It’s the final chapter of Season 2, and things are getting complicated out in the Outer Ring. A mysterious figure named Ramiel has become the target of multiple factions, and it falls to the Proxies to uncover what he’s really up to, with some unexpected help.

Two new agents are headlining the update. Promeia, the executioner of Krampus, is an S-Rank Ice Anomaly agent built around triggering Abloom through her Trial by Cold mechanic. Her EX Special Attack puts her in a Bound Absolution state that auto-dodges incoming attacks, and she gets bonus Abloom damage when paired with another Anomaly or Support agent. The other debut is Starlight – Billy, the fully upgraded version of everyone’s favorite Cunning Hares member, apparently funded by six months of his own paycheck. He’s an S-Rank Physical Rupture agent who rides a combat motorcycle and delivers massive burst damage through his iconic flying kick. His damage output scales with his max HP, and he can heal himself to stay in the fight. Both agents release in 2.8 alongside reruns of Lucia and Orphie & Magus.

On the gameplay side, the update introduces a new Wind attribute enemy and a fresh combat mechanic called Vortex. When a Wind-afflicted enemy gets hit with other elemental anomalies, Vortex triggers instead of Disorder, dealing AoE damage that matches the applied element. It’s a meaningful shake-up to how you build teams.
There’s also a new event called Marcel Bootopia, where you take control of Eous to explore a Bangboo resort island that’s been temporarily shut down due to a Hollow. Clear it out, rescue the trapped Bangboos, and you’ll earn Booltergeist, a new A-Rank Bangboo that hovers, fires lasers, and hits harder with the right team composition. Other events come with their own Polychrome rewards as well.

Rounding out the update is a new outfit for Hoshimi Miyabi called Dignified Blossom, a Polychrome Guide feature for tracking limited-time rewards, improved resource management with auto-delete support, and a new original soundtrack vinyl set available for pre-order through Laced Records starting April 29.
Zenless Zone Zero Version 2.8 drops May 6, 2026. The Steam launch gives the game a fresh entry point for players who’ve been on the fence, and between this update’s story beats and the new mechanics, now’s not a bad time to jump in.
Zenless Zone Zero is currently playable on available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Android, iOS, Epic Games Store, with Steam being available this May.
