Yuya Tokuda Shares Exciting Update on Monster Hunter Wilds After Surpassing 10 Million Sales

Earlier today, I reported on Monster Hunter Wilds surpassing 10 million copies sold, and to follow that up, Yuya Tokuda, the director of Monster Hunter Wilds, had a few things to say about that.

“We are very happy that so many people around the world are playing the game,” said Yuya Tokuda. “To commemorate the 10 million milestone, we are planning to release a free item pack for the community, so please look forward to more information. We would also like to thank you for the many comments, thoughts, and feedback we have received since the game was released. The development team has been reading your feedback, and we are encouraged by it. We are also using the comments and feedback we have received to help us plan our future actions.”

He goes on to mention that the Monster Hunter Wilds development team has been reading the players feedback, and are encouraged by it. In fact, it’s the very same feedback that is helping mold the future of the game.

Outside of the already announced free title update that will be released on April 4th, 2025, the developer are constantly making tweaks to the game.  Following this, the next update will be released at the end of May 2025, prior to the second title update that will be released in Summer 2025. More title updates will follow, which will add even more content to the game.

The update that will be released in May 2025 will add more level 8 Tempered Monsters, including Gore Magala, Rey Dau, Uth Duna, Nu Udra, and Jin Dahaad. These challenging monsters will have updates to them to make them more resilient, such as increased health, resistance to wounding, and tweaks to multiplayer scaling. To me, that sounds like a good time.

There will be upcoming balance adjustments that include game and weapon adjustments, which will be slowly added to the game. In addition, Quality of Life improvements will be added via upcoming updates. Such as UI improvements, and the team will continue to make additional adjustments and improvements to further enhance the overall feel of the game to curate an even smoother gameplay experience, including but not limited to the ease of restocking items, checking skill information, participating in multiplayer quests and using the Seikret; and camera behaviour during hunts.

Capcom also hasn’t been ignoring the performance woes, as the team continues to identify concerns that have been causing issues, and will make improvements as needed, especially to the PC (Steam) version. Improvements coming very soon include a reduction in VRAM usage and an upgrade to the DirectStorage version of the Steam version in Free Title Update 1. These should result in an overall improvement in stability for our PC players.

Lastly, it’s been asked often if and when Layered weapons will be added to the game, to which Yuya Tokuda has stated that they will be introduced to the game as an future update. More on that to come at a later date.

It’s been an amazing ride for fans of Monster Hunter Wilds, and to think it’s just started. And while the game has had its fair share of issues, especially performance issues, it’s nice to see that Capcom is listening to its fans and is being as transparent regarding the status of updates and what it has planned for the title.
