Type II Announces the Virtua Fighter Gaming Controller PRO for PC and Switch

By Keith MitchellJanuary 14, 2026
TYPE II C 4-button Virtua Fighter Gamepad

Type II has revealed a new Virtua Fighter-themed controller aimed at competitive play: the Virtua Fighter Gaming Controller PRO, a multifunction controller designed for both PC and Nintendo Switch platforms. In a sea, or should I say an ocean, of gamepads and fighting joysticks, there’s always room for another company to drop a new product, and that’s exactly what TYPE II is doing here. And if you’re not familiar with the company, I don’t blame you, because I can’t say that I was either.

Update: It appears that this controller is already available in Japanese markets, but is sold out at the moment. I’ve seen it on a few shops and on eBay.

The Virtua Fighter Gaming Controller PRO will come in two variants: PRO-4, which uses a top 4-button layout, and the PRO-6, which features a top 6-button layout. The PRO-6 in particular leans into a more traditional fighting game-style face button setup, giving players quicker access to key actions and commands.

One of the biggest highlights is its focus on responsiveness, which matters for anyone playing competitive games. According to Type II, the Virtua Fighter Gaming Controller PRO supports 1000Hz polling in both wired USB mode and 2.4GHz wireless mode, designed to reduce input latency and keep controls feeling tight during fast-paced matches. If you choose to play wired, there’s also a cable lock to help prevent accidental disconnects. The controller also uses Hall effect analog sticks, along with micro-switches for the face buttons.

Both models include expansion buttons, with rear buttons and grip buttons depending on the version, along with a trigger depth switch that supports two-stage depth adjustment for the L2/R2 triggers. There’s also button remapping, plus a button lock function to prevent accidental presses, which we all know can happen in the heat of battle. The controller also includes rapid-fire functionality, offering 5, 10, or 20 presses per second, plus a mode that can keep rapid-fire active even after releasing the button.

The four-button variant features a dark gray, white and orange color-scheme, with what we assume to Akira on the right side, and the new Virtua Fight logo to the left. While the six-button version features a larger Virtua Fighter logo to the left, sans the image of Akira. The face buttons, triggers, bumpers and rear buttons are in orange for both variants.

Compatibility listed on the product page includes Windows 10 and 11, as well as Nintendo Switch 2, Switch, Switch OLED, and Switch Lite. It also features gyroscope and accelerometer support when used on Switch, though since this is a fighting-focused pad, functions such as rumble and NFC are not supported.

The Virtua Fighter Gaming Controller PRO-4 is listed with a release date of December 11, 2025, while the PRO-6 is listed for a winter release. There hasn’t been a price listed yet, but both controllers are already appearing on Amazon Japan. My guess is Type II is waiting to see when SEGA officially announces the release date for the upcoming Virtua Fighter title.

The controllers look pretty good overall, but I’ll admit that D-pad looks a bit questionable. Still, looks are not everything. It will also be interesting to see if this controller takes off, since again, there are dozens of similar products on the market, and fighting game fans likely already have a controller or two that they prefer. Then of course, we’ll need hands-on time with these controllers to see if they really deliver. Here’s to hoping that Type II has something that’s worthwhile.
