Tribute and Dotemu Reveal Beat ‘Em Up MARVEL Cosmic Invasion

Tribute Games (TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge) is teaming up with Dotemu (Streets of Rage 4) and MARVEL Games to unleash an explosive new beat ’em up called MARVEL Cosmic Invasion! Get ready for an all-out galactic brawl as the immortal Super Villain Annihilus launches a devastating assault across the universe.

With the deadly Annihilation Wave threatening all life, Earth’s mightiest heroes and cosmic warriors must join forces for an action-packed battle spanning from the streets of New York City to the treacherous depths of the Negative Zone. Yes, directly from the pages of the comics.

Prepare for intense combat as you assemble a dream team of two heroes, choosing from Marvel comic book characters and swapping between them on the fly, thanks to the innovative Cosmic Swap system. Unleash powerful team-up attacks, combining unique superpowers, and delivering crushing blows to annihilate your enemies. The game isn’t even out, and I’m already imagining how that all looks.

So far, we’ve been treated to the following heroes, which is just the tip of the iceberg, as the game will have 15 characters at launch.

Power up, experiment with unstoppable hero duos, and battle through an incredible roster of Marvel’s most iconic locations and villains. MARVEL Cosmic Invasion brings the action to everyone with a suite of accessibility features, making it easy for fans of all ages to join the fight. Plus, with four-player drop-in/drop-out local and online co-op with full crossplay, you can team up with friends anytime, anywhere.

Jean-François Major, CEO and co-founder of Tribute Games, couldn’t be more excited about this new project: “I’m quite sure I speak for the whole team at Tribute Games when I say we are profoundly honored to work on MARVEL Cosmic Invasion. This project allows us to pay homage not only to the iconic Marvel characters but also to the classic arcade games that shaped our love for gaming. We approach this cherished universe with the utmost respect, infusing every pixel with the care and passion it deserves. We once again set out to modernize and push forward the genre while respecting what made the classics great.”

I grew up on the older X-Men, Spider-Man, Captain America, and the Avengers arcade games, so as you can imagine, I’m beyond happy to see that someone is using the Marvel license for another beat ’em up title. And if you’re doubting this game, just keep in mind that Tribute did give us one of the better beat =’em games in quite some time, that being TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge.

The only bummer is that we don’t have a release date, but at least we know the game will be released in 2025 for PS4, PS5, Xbox, Switch, and PC.

Now… about my Warmachine… We need him in there ASAP!
