2025 marks the 25th anniversary of Final Fantasy IX, and for the past four years, fans have wondered if the game is getting a remake due to the infamous Nvidia leak. Almost all of the titles from the leak have come true, which only fueled speculation. With the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct right around the corner, rumors have swirled that the game would be announced for the new console.
While there has been no evidence or confirmation of that, Square Enix did confirm that they are celebrating the 25th anniversary with some new merchandise!
Square Enix unveiled new figures of Zidane and Garnet, commemorative records, trinkets, plushies, and more!

Keep in mind that items will be shipping from Japan, so expect shipping prices to be anywhere from $35 – $60. For example, when I pre-ordered both figures of Zidane and Garnett, with shipping and tax, my order came up to $133 USD (¥19,220). However, if you are a fan of the series and must have some of these items, I’m sure the prices won’t be a problem!
One of the records highlighted, titled -Timeless Tale-, is a re-recording of the game’s title theme Melodies of Life.
The item highlighted is a picture book featuring everyone’s favorite black mage, Vivi! The picture book tells the story about Vivi’s days with a certain master before they set off on their journey. The official title of the picture book is “Final Fantasy IX Picture Book: Vivi and Grandpa on the Day of Departure.”
If you want to look stylish, the next items unveiled by Square Enix were a collaboration between them and Zoff for special commemorative eyewear. Three types of eyewear will be released, each with a limited edition eyeglass cleaning cloth and case. Online reservations will begin in early July.

Lastly, they announced a Final Fantasy IX 25th Anniversary Lottery. The lottery will be released in July 2025. Unfortunately, there are no further details about what the lottery pertains to at this time; however, they did promise more information at a later date.
