Today, we got our first official look at Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which picks up after the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, where Peter Parker asks Doctor Strange to make the world forget who he is. That fallout is front and center here, as the trailer opens with Peter watching his two closest friends, Ned and MJ, talking about their first days at MIT, with no memory of him at all.
But that’s just the beginning. The trailer not only gives us a glimpse at what’s next for Peter, but also teases a stacked lineup of Marvel characters. Frank Castle, better known as The Punisher, makes an appearance, and it seems Peter already knows him. Bruce Banner, played by Mark Ruffalo, is no longer in his Smart Hulk form and appears to be teaching at a school. And in a surprising return, the Scorpion, who we haven’t seen since Spider-Man: Homecoming, is back.
If that wasn’t enough, the mysterious organization known as the Hand also shows up and appears to be clashing with Spider-Man. Oh, and Tarantula, that we see for a very brief moment. And Boomerang, who is attacking Spider-Man.
However, the biggest tease of all is Peter himself. The trailer hints that Spider-Man may be losing his powers and undergoing a major transformation, something that feels very reminiscent of The Other comic storyline, where he is encased in a cocoon and reborn with new abilities. Which can be seen the trailer, as Peter can now shoot webs without his web shooters, similar to Tobey Maguire’s / Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man could.
Um, and was that Rogue on the bus? Possibly? We do know that the new X-Men that will be introduced into the MCU will be much younger, so possibly?
There’s definitely a lot to unpack here, and as a longtime Spider-Man fan, this is shaping up to be one of the biggest moments for our favorite wall-crawler yet.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day swings into theaters on July 31, 2026, kicking off a brand-new Spider-Man trilogy.
