South of Midnight Has Gone Gold, Official Soundtrack Now Available

If you’ve been eagerly awaiting South of Midnight for Xbox Series X|S and PC, great news—the game has officially Gone Gold! For those unfamiliar with the term (really?), it means development is complete, and the game is ready for production and digital distribution. In other words, you’ll be playing it very soon, on April 8th, 2025!

But that’s not all! Ahead of the game’s release, Xbox and Compulsion Games have dropped the official South of Midnight soundtrack on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, and Bandcamp. Drawing inspiration from the blues, country, and jazz roots of the American Deep South, this soundtrack offers a rich, immersive musical experience that sets the tone for the game’s mysterious world.

A quick heads-up—since soundtracks are an essential part of storytelling, some tracks may contain spoilers. So, if you want to go in completely fresh, listen with caution!

While we didn’t get a chance to preview the game, I spoke to several people who did and they had nothing but positive things to say about the game. Not just positive things, but very glowing things. This is going to be a hit for Xbox and I can’t wait to play the game for myself.

South of Midnight is set in a reimagined American Deep South, South of Midnight follows Hazel, a young woman whose hometown of Prospero is left in ruins after a devastating hurricane. Thrust into a dark and atmospheric Southern Gothic world where folklore comes to life, she discovers her role as a Weaver—a mystical healer with the power to restore broken spirits and bonds. Players will utilize her weaving abilities for combat, exploration, and puzzle-solving, encountering enigmatic creatures drawn from the region’s rich folklore.

Mark your calendars—South of Midnight launches April 8, 2025, for Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC (Xbox App & Steam), and cloud gaming. Plus, it’s coming day one on Xbox Game Pass!
