While we already knew the Sonic the Hedgehog movie franchise wasn’t slowing down, the post-credits tease at the end of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 made it clear that something big was coming next. Now, thanks to a newly released trailer, we finally know when that next chapter arrives. Sonic the Hedgehog 4 is officially set to hit theaters on March 19, 2027, exactly one year from today.
What makes this reveal even more exciting is the trailer itself. Longtime fans will immediately recognize the background track as Sonic Boom from Sonic CD. That choice isn’t just for nostalgia, it’s a direct hint at what’s coming next and where the movie is going t draw from.
In addition, it’s now officially confirmed that Metal Sonic will play a major role, and fittingly so, as he’s expected to be the primary villain in Sonic the Hedgehog 4. Though, I wouldn’t be surprised if Jim Carey makes a return, despite being seemingly blown up in the last movie. If Shadow surprised, I’m sure Eggman did as well.
Sonic the Hedgehog 4 speeds into theaters on March 19, 2027, and honestly, I can’t wait.
