Phil Spencer Once Again States That Xbox Titles Will Be On Nintendo Switch 2

Apparently, Nintendo is a "great partner."

Phil Spencer, Xbox, Nintendo Switch 2

If you’ve listened to the Nintendo Entertainment Podcast over the last several months (or longer…) you’ll know I never have a problem poking fun at Phil Spencer. While he may not be the “big problem” at Microsoft, he is the head of Xbox, and he is the voice through which many statements are made. So, when the Nintendo Switch 2 was teased to be getting Xbox Series X/S titles, I couldn’t help but smile, especially when Phil (who once noted it was his dream to buy Nintendo and said they “needed to realize their future was only in software”) tried to spin it as a positive thing for Microsoft.

In an interview with Variety, Phil Spencer talked about many things, and while he didn’t state what games would be on the Nintendo Switch 2, he did praise Nintendo about the process of getting the Microsoft titles onto the Nintendo platform:

“So we’ve been supporting Switch 1, I want to support Switch 2. Nintendo has been a great partner. We think it is a unique way for us to reach players who aren’t PC players, who aren’t players on Xbox. It lets us continue to grow our community of people that care about the franchises that we have, and that’s really important for us to make sure we continue to invest in our games. I’m really a big believer in what Nintendo means for this industry and us continuing to support them. And getting the support from them for our franchises, I think, is an important part of our future.”

There’s a lot of “hidden messages” and “context” in that statement, but it’s clear enough that Phil really is happy to have Xbox games on the upcoming system, especially since sales of them on Xbox platforms hasn’t been the best…
