Two weeks ago today, the Nintendo Switch 2 officially launched, and it’s a system that has gotten a LOT of attention ever since. One of the biggest things that people are focusing on, though, is the sales of the system. As we noted not too long ago, it sold 3.5 million units in its opening four days worldwide, a new record. Fast forward to now, and a new milestone has been crossed in Japan. Specifically, it’s been confirmed that the Switch 2 has crossed over 1 million units sold in the country.
Switch 2 sold 153,205 units in Japan last week.

Stealth isn’t wrong about the “not being able to meet demand” bit, as when pre-orders went live for the Nintendo Switch 2 in Japan, over 2.2 million people requested units via the Nintendo Store. Needless to say, that means that The Big N has only covered HALF of those people’s orders, and those were just the people who ordered through that particular service! It’s clear that Japan wants this console and the games that are coming out for it. Thus, it’ll be interesting to see how fast that number climbs as the stores are refilled with units.
