Neverness to Everness is a game that I have had my eye on for a while. I was able to play through two betas, and now I get the chance to review the official 1.0 launch of the game. Does the now-released version of the game pay off the build-up?

In Neverness to Everness or NTE, you will play as the Appraiser for Eibon Antiquities. An antique store that also hunts down anomalies from the supernatural. Your character will have an eye to see things that most other people can’t. You can see and hear the effects of anomalies, which is why you get hired as an appraiser. A lot of the factions you meet will also add depth to the city of Hethereau. This game is basically mashing a lot of games into each other, and the city itself is a sandbox reminiscent of Grand Theft Auto cities.
Living In Hethereau
The game loop for Neverness to Everness is focused primarily on what you can do in Hethereau. You can do story missions, side quests, fish, invest in real estate and buy apartments, become a cafe owner, and even more. Speeding through the story is difficult, as you need your hunter level to be at specific levels for certain intervals. You get hunter experience for anything you can do in the city. You can also grind materials by adventuring to locations in the city that unlock hubs for fighting mobs for materials.
Your main residency in Hethereau will be at the Eibon. You can adventure into the city and find phone booths to unlock fast travel spots. There are also sync towers that let you download data about the city, which will unlock more of the map for Hethereau. You can climb on buildings and even run a short distance up them. I do wish that you could actually run for longer since your stamina bar is longer, but it does make it quicker than just climbing normally. There are ravens throughout the city that drop oracle stones. They can be given to the Witch for extra experience points and currency.
The main currency for buying things in the city is known as Fons. These are given to you after doing most quests, though you can earn them in more consistent ways. I spent a lot of my time fishing to get Fons. When you catch a fish, you can sell that fish for fish scales and Fons if you give up city stamina. The rarer the fish, the better the return you get for that fish.
The best way to gain Fons is to advance the City Tycoon mode. This begins as a way to earn money by buying a coffee shop and investing in it. Once the coffee shop makes you enough money passively, you can unlock buying apartments. You can use the apartment to customize it or even invite your obtained characters to join you. The apartment does have some nice passives you gain from anomalies, so that also helps you in the rest of the game. Each thing you invest in has a way of helping you out in unexpected ways.
One of the last things you unlock from City Tycoon are bank heists. Though the bank heist in City Tycoon is not nearly as hard to plan for as Grand Theft Auto bank heists. It requires you to travel to the Pink Paw Bank Headquarters and get sent in through the entrance. As you travel around the supernatural sections of the bank, you can grab gold coins, cash, and other rare commodities. If you manage to escape from the bank before the authorities catch you, you will keep all the items you grabbed.
It is pretty easy to do the normal quests for City Tycoon levels to unlock. Unfortunately, there is one aspect not as easy, the Fons requirement. Once you get past level 14, you will need to get more and more Fons to unlock future levels. You will be forced to basically do the heists or fish all day in the game. There are some one-time places where you can get a good chunk of Fons, like banks that have vaults right out the gate, you can open.
Where NTE’s Combat Finds Its Rhythm
NTE took a page out of the Genshin Impact playbook by putting team synergy based on character element reactions. They are just different and are utilized differently. The reactions are based on when the character changes. When you see a team building screen, there are elements that are lit up. The Elements in NTE are Anima, Chaos, Cosmos, Incantation, Lakshana, and Psyche. They will be shown in a circle. You want to light up the elements that surround the element to create good synergy. If they are connected, that means they will have a reaction when switched out.
Every character has a basic five-hit attack by pressing the normal attack button. Some characters have attacks that are different if you hold the attack button down. You can also press a button to use a skill. Each skill is unique to the individual character. There is also an ultimate button. You need to build your character’s energy to use their ultimate.
Luckily, NTE adds some complexity to their combat system by adding perfect dodge counters and parries. If you dodge right before you get hit, you can do a special attack that dishes out more damage than a normal attack would do. If your enemy has a wind-up attack, it will have a red circle. If you can press a normal attack button when the red circle turns yellow, you will parry it and stun the enemy for a time. You can also stun them by depleting their guard gauge.

Free To Play
Neverness to Everness is a Free-To-Play gacha game. It is worthwhile to look at how the gacha system works. So some things have changed between betas, and even since then, the gacha system has had small changes. You can use it like a normal system that skips an animation to multi-summon a bunch of pulls or a single summon. You can also use the unique way it pulls via the Fair system. The Fair system takes you to a game board with a character that represents you. Each pull is a dice roll. The dice goes from one to six. Based on the roll, it moves the character one to six spaces on the board. The spaces on the board are populated by treasure chests, character spaces, and arc spaces. Treasure chests have a high chance of being a B Rank arc or item. It has a slightly higher chance of being above B Rank if it is a golden treasure chest. Character spaces on the standard banner are random. It can be any character A Rank or S Rank. Limited banners have specific character spaces as well as random character spaces. Specific character spaces have that specific character and make it more likely that you will receive that character.
Pity in gacha games simply means a guarantee. If pity is 80, that means you are guaranteed to get a high-quality unit in 80 pulls. If it reaches soft pity, it means rates go up much higher. For instance, if you have soft pity of 60 pulls, once you go 60 multis without a high-quality unit, your chance of getting one becomes exponentially larger.
All banners in NTE have pity of 90 dice rolls. Limited Banners guarantee you that character after 90 dice rolls. Standard Banner guarantees you a S Rank character. One thing to incentivize rolling on a limited banner after getting your S Rank character is the extra goodies on the banner. The current banner, which is Nanally’s, gives you a car cosmetic, a glider, and a new outfit for Nanally. I was able to get Nanally and all three cosmetics with 100 dice rolls. Though you aren’t guaranteed to get them until 200 rolls. I essentially only used half the amount of rolls necessary to get everything from the banner.
Other than the Gacha banners, the way that NTE will make money is through the premium currency. You can buy premium currency with real money to get outfits for characters, car cosmetics, gliders, and additional resources. Odds are, the things you can buy with real money will be added down the line.
Neverness To Everness The Experience
I didn’t go into even half of what I thought I would go into with Neverness to Everness. NTE is a free-to-play monster of a game. Overall, NTE has a lot of content and can sink your time in a variety of ways to progress some aspect of the game or another. NTE is a game that is worth putting your time into if you are trying to find the next time sink for your library.
Neverness to Everness is Free-To-Play on Mobile Devices (iOS and Android), PlayStation 5, and PC.

How Much Game Can You Fit In A Game?
Neverness to Everness was a gacha game that took a lot of my time. It has a little of everything in this game. Supernatural fights, car stealing, fishing, bank heists, and everything in between. Since it is a combination of a lot of elements from other games, it doesn’t do as much as those specific games can. It is still a fun time!
Pros
- Generous Gacha system
- A lot of things that can be done in Hethereau
- Any element can get addicting to focus on
- Generous gifts for beginning the game
- Satisfying combat and anomaly fights
Cons
- Too much content can make it feel like a crater to get out of
- Controller support seems to be lacking compared to the second beta
- Since it is a combination of a lot of elements from other games, it doesn’t do as much as those specific games can
