Plaion and SNK have announced the return of the Neo Geo AES System, an arcade legend that unfortunately was likely priced well out of range for many of us back in the day. With this re-release, you can now correct the past with this return of this arcade king.
Unlike other comebacks, this will be a pure experience with no emulation required for the SNK home console. 24 bits of raw power with its classic titles – all housed on its’ own turf in a 1:1 replica attempt by Plaion. The system will boast HDMI output, and high score saves as well as play original and new cartridges.
The main system itself is $250 USD. The white Anniversary Edition with Metal Slug is $350 and the Ultimate Edition with all of the games is $1,000 USD. The wireless sticks are also sold separately with 15-pin dongles and plugs.
Playion will be recreating these Neo Geo carts for the system:

- Metal Slug
- The King of Fighters 2002
- Garou: Mark of the Wolves
- Big Tournament Golf
- Shock Troopers
- Samurai Shodown V Special
- Pulstar
- Twinkle Star Sprites
- Magician Lord
- Over Top
The AES System launches on November 12th, 2026. There is an interest to recreate more cartridges from Plaion, we just don’t know which games they will be, but I really do hope they make them. It would be a shame to bring this out with just 11 games, even though you can play the original games on them, especially given that those are super expensive right now.
Preorders are now live over at Plaion’s website. So, if you’ve always wanted one of these when you were a kid, but the parents were against it, now’s your chance to get one.
