My Adventures With Green Lantern, And Other DC Comics Projects, Revealed By James Gunn

Jessica Cruz, You Have The Ability To Overcome Fear...

My Adventures With Green Lantern

The DCU has “officially begun,” as Creature Commandos (read my review here!)) started things off, and soon, Superman will kick off the live-action part of the universe. The question has always been “How big will this get?” That’s always been based on the ideas and whims of James Gunn and Peter Safran, the co-heads of DC Studios. Today, they announced a whole menagerie of things, including updates on certain live-action projects. However, in a surprise, they revealed several new animation projects, not the least of which is My Adventures With Green Lantern, a brand new series set in the same timeline as My Adventures With Superman, which is getting a third season on Max soon enough.

As the series synopsis reveals below, My Adventures With Green Lantern will focus not on Hal Jordan, John Stewart, Kyle Rayner, or even Guy Gardner but on Jessica Cruz, who has had quite an array of animated appearances over the years, including being in the Justice League and the Fatal Five film and in the Justice League/RWBY crossovers. We’ll see her “rise to power” in this new series:

"MY ADVENTURES WITH GREEN LANTERN" is in production at Warner Bros. Animation! The series will follow high school student Jessica Cruz who has her life upended when a Green Lantern Power Ring falls from the sky and chooses Cruz to be its champion. #DC

However, that’s not where things end. James Gunn also revealed a Starfire spinoff series, and a school-based series called “DC’s Super Powers,” which will feature The Martian Manhunter teaching young heroes  Lightning, Flash, Plastic Man, Aquagirl, Green Lantern, and Terra.

As for Starfire’s first solo show, she’ll be on her own exploring the stars and meet new friends along the way as she and others work to “uncover the deepest reaches of the DC universe, save Space Dolphins, surf technicolor nebulas, and boldly soar into the unknown.”

So, yeah, that’s a lot! The shows all have creative teams and we’ll get more information later.
