With EVO Japan 2026 taking place this weekend, it was almost guaranteed we’d see a wave of announcements, and that’s exactly what happened. One of the standouts reveals comes from Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, which introduced two new playable characters: Shuri as Black Panther and the Savage Incredible Hulk.
Check out the new trailer below.
Honestly, it’s great to see Hulk make the cut. You really can’t have a Marvel fighting game without the big guy. The switch to Shuri as Black Panther instead of T’Challa is also a strong move. It adds a fresh dynamic to the roster, and based on the reveal, her character model looks fantastic.
Hulk, well looks like the Hulk we’ve seen in countless games. He brings strength, deals massive damage and may have some armor hits. While Shuri is speed, striking quickly and appears to be a rushdown character.
Alongside the new fighters, Wakanda, has been introduced as a brand-new stage, bringing even more style and personality to the game’s presentation.
This new team joins the Amazing Guardians and the Unbreakable X-Men.
Could we still see the rumored Scarlet Witch and Magneto? Maybe not, but we do know the next team will include Doom. If you slow down the video, you’ll see a green flash, and you’ll see a “#” next to Doom, and Spidey’s head is scratched out. Is that a sign that we’ll get a someone who will cancel out Spider-Man?
My money is on we are seeing Carnage, as the green flash kind of gives us a hint. If you look at the bottom left-hand corner next to Doom, you’ll see some numbers, and one of them is 361. Carnage made his appearance in the Amazing Spider-Man issue #361.
And the more I look at this image, I’m thinking that we may also see Mr. Negative, since the image looks like a film negative. But for the other character in the team, I’m not too sure. We can see the EA in team and EX in Next clawed out. So, who will that be?
Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls launches on August 6, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and PC.
