Looks like AMD Is Getting Ready to Release the RX 470

By Keith MitchellAugust 2, 2016

rx470

While rumors were circulating that AMD is looking to release both the RX 460 and the RX 470, in the early weeks of August, maybe as soon as August 4th, 2016. An email I received from them a few minutes ago may look to solidify those rumors. While I haven’t seen anything about the RX 460 come across my inbox, info on the RX 470, has.

The email, despite not very forthcoming with much info, did at least give the specifications for the upcoming RX 470 GPU. It’s worth nothing that the very same specs were leaked over two months ago. Major differences here is that the RX 470 will utilize the Polaris 10 Pro graphics core, will feature 256 fewer stream processors, a clock speed of 1206 MHz, 4.9 TFLOPs, 6.6GHz memory speed, 211GB’s of memory bandwidth and use 120 watts, compared to the RX 480.

Price wise, we should see the RX 470 hitting anywhere from $169 – $200. I can’t expect it to be much more, especially since the RX 470 is only using 4GB of VRAM, which may cripple the card if you’re looking to push 1080p at max settings or even 1440p.

Expect more news to follow, especially if the RX 470 does end up launching later this week.
