With LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight set to release on May 22, 2026, TT Games has dropped the game’s official launch trailer. After a few action-heavy shots, the trailer shifts to one of the most iconic moments in Batman history: the tragedy that turned Bruce Wayne into an orphan and set him on the path to becoming the Dark Knight.
The new trailer puts the spotlight firmly on Batman’s long history, mixing classic villains, iconic suits, Batmobiles, and memorable locations from across comics, animated series, films, and games. Set against the backdrop of Seal’s famous track Kiss From a Rose, the trailer carries a surprisingly dramatic tone while still delivering the lighthearted humor LEGO games are known for.
Players can expect appearances by fan-favorite villains, including The Joker, the Penguin, Two-Face, Poison Ivy, Mr. Freeze, and Bane. The trailer also showcases several members of the Bat Family, including Robin, Batgirl, Nightwing, and Catwoman, all of whom appear to feature playable roles throughout the story.
One of the biggest takeaways from the footage is the game’s more ambitious gameplay direction. Combat appears faster and more fluid than previous LEGO titles, with combo attacks, stealth sections, gadgets, and vehicle sequences all playing a major role. Gotham City also looks far larger than before, giving players an open world packed with missions, secrets, and collectibles.
TT Games has described LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight as a celebration of Batman’s legacy across every era. Rather than focusing on hundreds of playable characters, the game appears to center more closely on Batman and his allies, giving the story a tighter narrative.
The visual style also stands out, blending the familiar LEGO aesthetic with darker lighting and cinematic presentation that feels inspired by modern superhero games. Even so, the trailer makes it clear that the series’ trademark comedy remains fully intact.
LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight will launch worldwide on May 22 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Pre-orders are available now for the Standard and Deluxe Editions of the game on the above-mentioned platforms. Deluxe Edition pre-orders will receive 72-hour early access beginning on May 19, before the main launch. All pre-orders will receive The Dark Knight Returns Batsuit (at launch), inspired by the acclaimed comic book series.
