Larian Studios Drops Divinity: Original Sin 2 Onto Switch 2, PS5 and Xbox Series

Larian Studios is known to most right now for being the brilliant team behind the beloved Baldur’s Gate 3. While I’m far from the biggest D&D player, even I was drawn to that title and got a deep run in…and totally got with Karlach…because…reasons… Anyway, what many don’t know is that they were making those kinds of games for a while, and were very successful at it. One of the best examples of this just got a shadow drop onto modern systems, as Divinity: Original Sin 2 Definitive Edition is now available on Nintendo Switch 2, PS5, and the Xbox Series X/S.

To help introduce players to those who weren’t aware of the title and what it was like, they made a special Q&A post on their website, breaking down all the questions newcomers might have, such as giving  a synopsis of the game:

“In a world where the Gods are dead, you play a wielder of forbidden magic, quarantined in the prison colony of Fort Joy. The Magisters of the Divine Order want to “cure” you of your powers. But the Order has secrets of its own. Secrets that threaten everyone. If the world remains godless, chaos will rule.”

If you already have Divinity: Original Sin 2 Definitive Edition on a previous system, you’re in luck, as Larian has provided a free update that’ll upgrade things for your new system. Personally, I’m hoping this does well enough that Larian decides to bring BG3 to the Switch 2. Just saying…

Also, if you haven’t yet, check out the first trailer for the next entry in the Divinity series! CAUTION: It’s a DARK trailer.
