Crimson Desert has now surpassed 5 million copies sold. Less than two weeks ago, Pearl Abyss announced the game had already hit 4 million, and I joked we’d probably be back here soon talking about the next milestone. Turns out that wasn’t much of a stretch. The open-world action-adventure game is picking up steam at a pace that’s getting harder to ignore.
If you’re wondering why the game is catching on this quickly, we recently spent time with it in our full review, breaking down what works and where it still has room to grow. Check out our Crimson Desert review.

Pearl Abyss today announced that its open-world action-adventure title, Crimson Desert, has surpassed 5 million copies sold worldwide, marking a significant milestone for the company and further solidifying its position as a global leader in game development.
Crimson Desert has been widely praised by both critics and players for its stunning visuals powered by Pearl Abyss’ proprietary BlackSpace Engine, its richly detailed open world, and its dynamic, immersive combat system.
And thanks to strong player engagement, with a peak of 276,261 concurrent players on Steam since release, Pearl Abyss has unveiled a preview of upcoming updates that address player feedback and include further improvements. These include expanded challenges, gameplay refinements and system enhancements scheduled from April through June, aimed at enhancing the overall player experience.
5 million copies sold, for a game that many had sad was trash, not worth playing and found ways to dunk on it whenever they could. I guess the game is actually a lot better than they gave credit for, or perhaps they didn’t even play the game. Who am I do say.
Despite my joking behavior, I’ll admit that Crimson Desert did release with lots of issues that were concerning, and frustrating to see a game of that scale, released like it was. However, Pearl Abyss has been slowly updating the game and addressing a lot of the concerns. I don’t want to say this similar to Cyberpunk 2077, it I feel like it is. Still, the work is being done, and 5 million copies are sold.
Congrats to Pearl Abyss. I’ll see you again in another few weeks to talk about 6 million copies sold.
