Tournament organizers of the Evo USA 2025 team have released the leaderboard for the recent registration numbers. Some of this seems to be surprising, while the rest may be just that of the times. With Evo Japan 2025 gone, the new contest is coming quicker than ever before, and the numbers seem to prove it.

It looks like Street Fighter VI has taken the Evo Las Vegas 2025 major run by storm. The game has picked up steam on the March 16 registration start and has dominated this round thus far. Street Fighter VI has even beaten out both Tekken 8 and this year’s newcomer, Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves.
Tekken 8’s Season 2 woes didn’t slow it down despite even a lower Steam rating than before. The 3D fighter stands in its own as a representative of its genre. Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. attempted to try, reaching the side tournament status despite its Steam debut. The balance patch fixes itself might be able to turn things around for Tekken 8’s showing at the major.
The recent SNK entry – Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves – has a series incoming in the form of the $2.5 Million USD prize pool-backed SNK Championships to contend with. With Andy and Ken coming to the game as DLC this summer, 3 months of prep may still be all that’s needed to compete in the biggest major since its extravagant debut. The game takes third place.
The rest of the pack
Guilty Gear Strive takes its own stride against its 2 other Arc Systems brothers, Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising and Under Night In-Birth 2, despite it being near 4 year run. Its other running mates take the 2 of the Top 8 spots and half the registration. Both games were released
Mortal Kombat 1 being last heap against Marvel vs Capcom 2 is a surprise, but not without some sort of reasons. Marvel vs Capcom 2 is a cult favorite amongst the scene and was re-released to last and modern gen. Mortal Kombat 1‘s announcement of having no more DLC character plans could be the culprit for the lack of entries in the challenge.

Compared to last year, not too much has changed outside of Fatal Fury attempting to jump on Tekken 8’s heels. A strong start from King Of Fighters XV’s last place as the new SNK representative. Capcom may lose Third Strike as the retro, but gains Marvel vs Capcom 2 in an attempt to bring back nostalgia. KOF XV took 8th place compared to its’ current sideshow standing.
Evo USA 2025 will take place between August 1-3 this year.
