Koei Tecmo has decided to get Mai Shiranui and Kula Diamond, from the King of Fighters collab, back into Dead or Alive 6. The King of Fighters XIV collaboration characters will not come with the base game. It doesn’t even matter if the user has already bought them before. Other guests are included, but Mai and Kula, along with their 5 outfits each, are to be bought separately. Here is their trailer just to get you up to speed.
Mai Shiranui has shown up in Dead or Alive 5 by herself as the sole representative of Fatal Fury / King of Fighters. Meanwhile, Akira, Pai, Sarah, and Jacky, were guests from the Virtua Fighter series for Dead or Alive 5. Guest characters had always been a thing for the series since Spartan 458 appeared from Halo to take on the fighters. Obscurity is never an issue with Koei Tecmo in this department and honestly – I’m here for it.
Dead or Alive 6: Last Round will be getting more characters and costumes that can only be done on the new hardware. Crossplay, however, will not be coming to this new version, unfortunately. This is meant to be the final iteration of the 2019 title, so refining might need to be in the cards. For example, due to restrictions with the technical hardware, tag was omitted from the Dead or Alive 6 initial run. Especially if there is going to be another Dead or Alive title to follow it.
Dead or Alive 6: Last Round will be released on June 25, 2026 for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam. Costumes and all, of course.
