During Gamescom 2026 Opening Night Live, Pearl Abyss revealed Crimson Desert Enhanced, an upgraded version of its massively popular open-world action-adventure game. However, instead of being packaged and sold as a separate release, Crimson Desert Enhanced will arrive as the game’s 2.0 update. This is going to be a massive update, and it will be available as a free download for anyone who already owns Crimson Desert.
The one-minute announcement trailer provides a look at several of the additions coming with the update. This includes new cutscenes and additional dialogue intended to strengthen the game’s narrative and provide more context for Kliff’s journey across Pywel.
Check out the trailer for yourself.
Crimson Desert Enhanced will also expand the game’s language support with French, German, Spanish, Japanese, and Brazilian Portuguese voiceovers. Arabic subtitles and user interface support are also being added. Pearl Abyss has continued supporting Crimson Desert since its release with fixes, gameplay improvements, and new features based on player feedback. The game surpassed five million copies sold worldwide earlier this year, giving the developer a sizeable audience for this much larger 2.0 update.
When The Outerhaven reviewed Crimson Desert earlier in 2026, we said the game had set the bar for open-world action RPGs. Now, with this update looking to add more content while addressing concerns from the base game, I’m interested to see how we’ll feel about it afterward.
Crimson Desert is currently available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store, and Mac.
