Chun-Li Spinning Bird Kicks Her Way Into Fatal Fury City of The Wolves

By Kevin KellyNovember 1, 2025
Fatal Fury City of the Wolves Chun Li vs Mai Shiranui

The latest update for Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves attempts to answer the burning question we’ve been pondering for years: who is the true Queen of Fighters? No, we’re not talking about Gal Fighters. Chun-Li might be able to answer this as she’s about to make her way to South Town in this trailer. Of course, who better to stop her than her eternal rival. Mai Shiranui, already jumped into Metro City in Street Fighter VI earlier.

Chun-Li’s taking it to her turf. The intros clearly play on the Capcom vs SNK 2 art where the two go breast-to-breat literally. The two square off similarly to Akiman’s artwork for the Capcom vs SNK series. Mai and Chun-Li have both been the first two women of fighting games. All the more reason to see who would come out on top.

Chun-Li seems to have some of the Street Fighter VI iteration moves in tow from the looks of it. Lightning Kicks made it in along with some of her iconic normals such as her two-hit crouching fierce punch move which can act like an anti-air. Chun’s two Supers mirror her Hoyoku-sen and Kikosho. Her normals seem to track the same, also. As predicted, her upkicks are cancelable.

There is no indication that Serenty Stream’s stance is still present in her kit, but seeing how Ken was done might be a bit more of a clear sign. Her Level 3 super has some homages to her Marvel vs Capcom level 3 super.

Chun-Li has yet to have a real confirmation date for release. She does get her original costume back as a option similar to Ken’s. Chun-Li’s theme is also a nod to her original theme, too.  With how the shadow dropping of Joe was handled, there’s an indication that Chun-Li will be playable in December.

Lucky fans at the Dreamhack major will be able to go-hands on with her this weekend. Chun-Li joins Andy, Joe, Ken, and Mr. Big, to round off the first Season of the Free DLC pack included in City of the Wolves.

Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves is currently available for the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam).
