During a busy weekend of announcements at Summer Game Fest 2026, you might have missed a few things. But one you don’t want to miss is the new details about Beast of Reincarnation revealed during the PC Gaming Show.
Game Director Kota Furushima from Game Freak revealed several Japanese voice actors for Beast of Reincarnation, including Yui Ishikawa as the protagonist, Emma. The game will also star Miyuki Satou, Akio Otsuka, Sumire Morohoshi, Yu Kobayashi and more.
Alongside the cast reveals, Game Director Kota Furushima provided additional details about the world of Beast of Reincarnation, its narrative themes, combat systems, and progression elements during his latest interview.
But what is Beast of Reincarnation actually about? Well, Set in post-apocalyptic Japan, the story follows Emma, an outcast cursed as a “Blightborn” with neither memories nor emotions, and Koo, her loyal canine companion. Players can experience a journey that offers the reassurance and warmth of having a companion, as well as a sense of loneliness. An ever-changing world where dense forests suddenly erupt amidst the wasteland. By travelling and living together with her companion through this beautiful yet harsh world, Emma and Koo’s bond strengthens, and with it, interesting powers bloom. In this world consumed by blight… what will Emma and Koo find at journey’s end?
Gameplay has RPG aspects, and the scale of combat reminds me of Capcom‘s Monster Hunter series. I’ve had my eye on Beast of Reincarnation ever since it was first revealed. It represents a big bet for Game Freak, but everything we’ve seen thus far appears very promising.
I can’t wait to play it, and now we don’t have too much longer to wait. Beast of Reincarnation launches August 3, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
