Here at The Outerhaven, we’re always happy to spread the word about indie titles. They’re often some of the most creative and passionate projects in the industry, and they absolutely deserve more love. Case in point: Augment Anthem, an upcoming Metroidvania title from indie studio, Project Ego.
Developed by first-time developer László, Augment Anthem is a retro pixel-art sci-fi Metroidvania set to launch on May 15th. If you haven’t heard of it, that’s because this is László’s debut title, which makes what’s on display here all the more impressive. Having covered similar titles like Mio: Memories in Orbit, which I wasn’t even remotely interest in until I start playing it and then loved it, this one caught my attention right away.
Check out the trailer below.
Set on a post-extinction Earth, you play as a human/android hybrid exploring the remnants of civilization while protecting a small group of survivors. The premise may sound familiar, but Augment Anthem looks to stand out through its approach to build experimentation. Players have will access to a large grid of abilities and augmentations, letting them stack modifiers and craft unique combat and traversal playstyles. Whether you prefer mobility, raw power, or a more tactical approach, the system is built to reward experimentation and keep you coming back.
If Metroidvanias or indie sci-fi are your thing, this one’s worth watching. Check out the Steam page, and the official website for more info on the title.
Augment Anthem is slated for May 2026 release for PC (Steam).
