Atelier Resleriana: The Red Alchemist & The White Guardian Gets First Look

Fans of the Atelier series get a new look at the announced game Atelier Resleriana: The Red Alchemist & The White Guardian. Koei Tecmo released a trailer that has some of the Gust staff discussing what fans of the series can expect from this new title.

The interesting thing is that we don’t have the two main protagonists of the now-defunct mobile game of Atelier Resleriana, which were Resna and Valeria. The new ones are Rias, the girl alchemist, and Slade, the boy warrior. The game is supposed to be a tribute to the Atelier series as it came before, since Atelier Yumia is a new direction for the series. If you liked the depth of the previous synthesis systems or the turn-based combat, this is the Atelier game for you.

Rias and Slade go to the town of Halfein to look at the cause of a disaster. Slade uses his special Geist Core to open doors to different dimensions. There are characters from previous Atelier series that return to be playable in this entry. Sophie, Totori, Wilbel, and Raze are all confirmed playable characters in this Atelier entry. Not only do we get a Synthesis system, a battle system and an exploration system similar to older Atelier games, but a brand new system is in the game. A town building system. Alchemy not only helps you in exploration and in battle, but also in developing and building up the town.

You can advance the main story and find new recipes by also using alchemy to develop the town. It can also be used to sell items synthesized by alchemy for money. Gust staff has confirmed that Atelier Resleriana will be built on an evolved system that the mobile game was built on, but for a console experience. This game was built on the feedback of the Atelier fans to have a classic and challenging game in the series.

I am excited to see more of this game and especially happy we get Sophie and Totori back as playable protagonists. Sophie is my favorite character in the series, so getting more Sophie is always a nice welcome. If you are interested in getting into the series, Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories and The Envisioned Land is the one I would recommend. If you want to see how a more modern classic game plays to prepare for this upcoming one, then Atelier Sophie 2: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Dream is the one I would recommend.

Atelier Resleriana: The Red Alchemist & The White Guardian will be released September 26th, 2025, on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Strange that it isn’t on Xbox since Atelier Yumia released on Xbox just earlier this year.
