Asus Reveals A Massive 65-Inch 4K G-Sync Monitor At CES 2018

By Keith MitchellJanuary 8, 2018

If you already had a hard time deciding on what monitor you wanted for PC gaming. Well, you’re going to love this bit of news. Announced at the ongoing CES 2018 event, Asus has shown off a brand new monitor that is targetting living room PC gaming. The ROG (Republic of Gamers) Swift PG65, a 65-inch 4K monitor that also supports G-Sync and HDR (1000 nits). Yep, both the technologies that PC gamers have been asking for, for a while.

Rounding out the monitor is a built-in Nvidia Shield for streaming media. It also supports Nivida’s Gamestream, so you’ll be able to stream PC games from your PC. Assuming you have a Nvidia GPU equipped.

This monitor (as well as others) are part of an initiative by Nvidia, called BFGD (Big Format Gaming Displays). They want to put huge monitors like this, into everyone homes and this is just the first. Read more about here.

Asus ROG Swift PG65 Features:

  • 65-inches
  • 4K  / HDR (1000 nits)
  • G-Sync / 120Hz (120fps)
  • Built-in Nvidia Shield and Nvidia Gamestream abilities

At 65-inches, this massive monitor may be too big for most PC gamers, but I don’t think that many will care about that. However, I applaud Asus’s decision to market this beast for those who want to replace the conventional TV (even 4K) with this monitor. Especially as this will remove the need to have both a PC monitor and a 4K TV in the same area. My only concern is that 4K screens have had issues with input delay. And we all know that input delay is the arch nemesis of gaming. So it will be interesting to see how this fairs when more info about the monitor is released.

There’s currently no price, but I don’t expect it to be cheap. Given the size and what Asus and Nvidia have tossed in, I don’t expect to see come in under $6000. Still, that doesn’t stop me from wanting from, because I do. And if you’re at CES 2018, you’ll be able to get some hands-on with the monitor. There’s also no release date, though Asus says to expect the Swift PG65 later on during 2018. So more than likely, we’ll see it towards the end of the year.

Looks like I better start saving up.
