I was pretty dismayed when I found out that my favorite Xbox One battery charger, the Energizer 2X Extra Life Charge System from PDP was recalled. I had been using that unit since last year and was easily my favorite. With the front facing battery life gauge, I was easily able to tell how much life my controllers had. Well now that I’m waiting for PDP to reply on what to do next, I decided to look for another charger.
Not one to rely on the plain old USB cables, or AA batteries, I need something that’s functional, yet having some sort of manageability. So I’ve gone out and checked out several Xbox One battery chargers to replace my fallen hero. Hopefully, one of these suggestions will help you get over your loss as well.
Nyko Xbox One Modular Charge Station
This Nyko charger sorta reminded me of the Energizer 2X Extra Life Charge System, with its design. However, unlike most chargers, this one was intended to sit on top of the Xbox One and be plugged into the system via a USB cable. If you have your Xbox One out and accessible vs having it hidden away, then this will work for you. It includes two rechargeable 1400mAh batteries.
The downside is that for some reason, this isn’t compatible with the Xbox One S. PC Gamers who use the Xbox One controller may want to stay away from this as well.

Nyko Charge Block Duo for Xbox One
This charger is actually pretty unique in that it comes in sets of one, that piggyback off another. You can purchase this as a single unit or a dual unit. What’s more is that if you have a PlayStation 4, you can pick up a Charge Block Duo for that system and combine it with the Xbox One versions. It’s pretty interesting and was actually the unit I was looking for before I picked my now recalled PDP unit. Only it wasn’t openly available at the time. This also works with the Xbox One Elite controller, should you own one.
The single unit costs $19.99, while the duo unit costs $29.99.
So far, the only place I’ve been able to find it locally or online has been Gamestop.
Power A Wireless Controller Charging Station for Xbox One
This charger is pretty popular, per the helpful people at my local Bestbuy. I nearly picked this one up on several occasions, however, I am not a fan of the design. I prefer to have both my controllers facing forward, vs them sitting opposite of each other. Still, if you’re in the market for a new charger and you don’t mind the look, this may be for you. It includes two rechargeable batteries, features a LED light for charging status (green for being fully charged, red for charging) and a helpful snapping mechanism to tell you if the controller is firmly in place or not.
The unit also comes in Glacier White, for all those who picked up the Xbox One S and like to make their accessories. The Power A Wireless Controller Charging Station for Xbox One retails for $29.99, however, is currently on sale for $23.96 over at Amazon.com.
PDP Energizer 2X Charging System for Xbox One
No, this isn’t the PDP charger that was recalled. Instead, this is the original charger will the weird design. This supports both the Xbox One and Xbox One Elite Controller and connects via an AC adaptor. It includes two rechargeable 700 mAh batteries, features two LED in the front of the unit that provides charging details and can be picked up for just under $30. It also comes in white.
I haven’t heard anything bad about this unit and it isn’t being recalled. I just don’t like the look of the charger. However, if that doesn’t bother you then here you go.

Nyko Charge Base for Xbox One
This guy was my very first Xbox One battery charger. No frills, no complicated docking mechicism and easy to use. Simply set the controller into the charging base and a red/green light will pop up on the front of the until Includes two rechargeable 700 mAh batteries and plugs into any AC outlet.
That said, I’ve seen several complaints from people claiming that they weren’t able to align the controller onto the base. Not sure how as it’s not that hard. So, YMMV.
