Hokutomaru Appears Fatal Fury City of the Wolves

By Kevin KellyApril 11, 2025
Fatal Fury City of the wolves Hokutomaru

More ninjas will be coming to Fatal Fury: City of The Wolves. Just not on some Dead or Alive level of shinobi, mind you, but that’s a good thing. Hokutomaru returns to Southtown… or was he already here because of his training? Hokutomaru is back and as tricky as ever. Andy Bogard‘s star Shiranui pupil has been revealed as the final character to join Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, and as devastating as the traffic accidents that the Shiranui ninja caused in the first game. Clan Elder Mai might have her hands full with this one, or from his story, Terry seemed to have looked after him, as well.

Hokutomaru’s got himself some better threads this time, as well as a stronger arsenal. The bokken he wields is also gone. His Shuriken throws are good to be thrown from the air and ground for a projectile answer. If he gets 3 of his shurikens out, one can negate the projectiles forthcoming from his foes. His Go Hadan launcher feels as though it came straight from Bogard Sensei’s King of Fighters Verse Saga kit. Thanks to the Rev system, Hokutomaru can link his newly acquired Zan-en Ken elbow attack to his Kuuhan Dan foot attack. Hokutomaru also acquires his very own version of Zetsu Kishou Ken from Andy. His Hidden Gear super combines Mai and Andy’s Shiranui techniques with a bit of his own pyrotechnical abilities.

Hokutomaru still holds his teleportation tricks from Mark of the Wolves, too, with the ability to change directions with it to either cover the field or stay where he is. His Double Jump also returns.

For a better view as to seeing how Hokutomaru deals with living in the big city with the other “Wolves”, Evo Champs ET and Menard have some match videos from the recent Evo Showcase of Fatal Fury City of the Wolves to watch from yesterday. Sadly, guest characters Renaldo and Ganacchi are on display from the two masters, also. From the look of things, Hokutomaru’s kit will be the “We have Andy Bogard at Home” version until Sensei Bogard appears this summer to follow Ken from the Year 1 DLC.
Monster Hunter Wilds and Black Desert Online’s Caleb Yen voices him. With Hokutomaru the last character out, there’s still enough time to see other SNK surprises in the coming weeks.

Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves will be available on April 24th for PlayStation 4|5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam.
