RWBY Receives Television Anime

Rooster Teeth’s popular web series, RWBY, has received a television anime adaptation. Studio Shaft is currently signed on to produce the anime. The RWBY anime will also be available in both sub and dub format on Crunchyroll when it launches!

The official title of the anime will be RWBY: Ice Queendom which will feature a brand-new story in which Ruby, Weiss, Blake, and Yang travel beyond Beacon Academy.

Staff and cast for the show have been announced which are as follows:

STAFF

  • Director: Toshimasa Suzuki
  • Concept: Gen Urobuchi
  • Writer: Tow Ubukata
  • Character Designer: huke
  • Producer: Bandai Namco, Good Smile Company, Rooster Teeth

CAST

  • Ruby Rose: Lindsay Jones (EN), Saori Hayami (JP)
  • Weiss Schnee: Kara Eberle (EN), Yoko Hikasa (JP)
  • Blake Belladonna: Arryn Zech (EN), Yu Shimamura (JP)
  • Yang Xiao Long: Barbara Dunkelman (EN), Ami Koshimizu (JP)

In addition to voicing Yang, Ami Koshimizu will also be performing the ED for the show, titled “Awake.” The OP for the show will be performed by Void_Chords feat. L and will titled “Beyond Selves.”

Crunchyroll will stream the sub and dub starting from the same premiere date as the Japanese version; however, the air date has not been revealed as of yet. 

The show is described as follows:

“‘RWBY: Ice Queendom’ presents RWBY in beautiful 2D anime visuals. RWBY imagines a world filled with horrific monsters bent on death and destruction, and humanity’s only hope is dependent upon powerful Huntsmen and Huntresses. Ruby Rose, Weiss Schnee, Blake Belladonna, and Yang Xiao Long are four such Huntresses in training whose journeys will take them far past the grounds of their school, Beacon Academy. Though each may be powerful on their own, these four girls must overcome dark forces and work as a team if they truly hope to become the next generation of Remnant’s protectors.”
