Shin Megami Tensei V Finally Detailed at E3 Nintendo Direct

By William "Shadowz" KokJune 15, 2021

After what seems to be forever, we finally get details to Shin Megami Tensei V at this year’s E3 Nintendo Direct.

We finally see how it is presented and what kind of gameplay it will compose of. If you are familiar with Tokyo Mirage Sessions, the layout may be familiar. In the trailer we see that we will return to the apocalyptic wasteland which is another Tokyo.

Filled with Angels and Demon alike fighting, you will meet a mysterious being who will join and grant you the power to fight your enemies. All of the elements of Shin Megami series are present here. The Demon negotiations, Press Turn system and Demon Fuison are back and ready for this entry. While Shin Megami Tensei III embraces Demonhood, here in Shin Megami Tensei V appears to embrace Godhood if ATLUS has clues in reagrds.

There was also a Tree House demonstration after the Direct which showed off more of the game.

We see further gameplay in the demonstration and what we can expect. We see the traversal of the map and what the geography of  Another Tokyo is. One detail to note is the Protagonist himself and his long flowing hair after his transformation. If you love your highly androgynous protagonists, then this one is for you. We see a bit of the demon negotiations, some combat, and lastly how the game over screen looks like.

We also got a release date for the game. Shin Megami Tensei V will be released on November 12, 2021, exclusively for Nintendo Switch. Preorders will go live on June 21.  Needless to say, it is a good day to be a Shin Megami Tensei fan.
