New Haven Gameplay Trailer; Releasing On PS4, Switch, And PC In 2020

By Keith MitchellJuly 9, 2019

Haven, an upcoming RPG from the team that brought us Furi, finally has some gameplay footage.

Announced a few months back by The Game Bakers, Haven tells the tale of two lovers who escaped to a lost planet so they can be together. Since the announcement, the studio has been hard at work and they’ve released the first gameplay footage from the game.

Haven is a very accessible RPG, a relaxing game. It’s purposefully a very different experience from Furi.” writes Emeric Thoa, the game creative director. “But as with Furi, we tried to make a game that you have never experienced before. The story of a couple fighting for their freedom, an established relationship: what love looks like when you’ve moved past the early seduction phase, when you can be your true self with one another… I don’t think that’s been done much in video games.

What we can see from this footage are several varied locations on the lost planet that the starstruck pair find themselves on. There seems to be a crafting system which we see briefly, and the combat system which looks to be a turn-based system. In addition, they showed off an ability called “Pacify” that was used to either bring back a creature that as killed during the battle. That’s definitely something I haven’t seen before in any game.

Another interesting bit about the game is that while Haven is a traditional RPG, it has a twist. At any time another person can jump into your game. Allow you and another to enjoy the game together. This is also shown during the combat in the footage.

Take a look at the footage below.

In addition to the video, the team also let us know that there will be a playable demo of Haven at both PAX West and Gamescom 2019. By appointment, that is.

Haven will be released for the PS4, Switch, and PC, during some time in 2020. I’ve already said I was looking forward to this, and the recent update only solidifies that. The game design looks stellar and I really dig the idea of a co-op RPG.
