About a month ago, UGREEN announced a collaboration with HoYoverse on its gacha game, Honkai: Star Rail. The collaboration itself focused on Yao Guang, a character in the game. After doing the write-up and reaching out to the PR team about the products, I was fortunate enough to get a shipment of them to look at for myself. I was pleased with a lot of what I was able to try out.
Presentation and Packaging
I was given the full gift set alongside the power bank to look at. Honestly, the way this gift set looks is amazing. It has a peacock display of feathers when you open the box, which gives it an amazing first impression. I was incredibly surprised at how well it was put together.
What Is Inside the Gift Set?
The presentation of the Gift Set is good and all, but what is included? The big-ticket item, in my opinion, is the external battery charger. It has a 10,000 mAh capacity, which essentially means that, for me, it can charge my phone to full two times. As long as the battery has at least half a charge, I don’t need to charge it to keep my phone fully charged.
It is also worth noting that there is a magnetic ring so it can connect to phone cases with magnets inside. The main use case for these accessories is tailored to newer iPhones. With that in mind, I use a Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra. I was pleasantly surprised that the battery still connects magnetically to my phone. Even if you don’t have a magnetic phone case, there is a USB-C cord attached to the charger.
The next two items go together. One of the first things I noticed while opening the case was the weird circular object inside it. This is a USB-C to USB-C cord that can expand and retract. I will admit, I thought it could expand farther than it was able to, but it has the length it does because it is meant to be portable. You are meant to put it in a bag or in your pocket, and it is small enough to fit.
I would not recommend putting too much pressure on it or moving around whatever you are charging with the cord. It likes to retract if it feels like it can. It’s best to let it charge something and just leave it alone until it’s fully charged.
The part of the gift set this complements, though, is the power brick! The power brick looks beautiful, honestly. It is a nice shade of blue, and it has a picture of Yao Guang on it. It supports 65W charging, which makes for a pretty fast charging speed. Granted, the cord and the device need to be able to handle that too. Yes, the USB-C cord in the gift set supports that charging power. It actually supports up to 100W charging.
I mentioned that the gift set is tailored to iPhone products. The next part of the set shows this the most out of all these devices. It is the tracker. It essentially works like an Apple tag. You can pair it with the app, and you will be able to see where the tracker is whenever you open it.
I do not have an iPhone, but my wife does, so I had her see how easy it was to set up. Basically, you can use the Find My app and sync the tag with it in just a few seconds. It is recommended to put it on car keys or a purse, so if those get lost or stolen, you can find them pretty easily.
The smaller items in this list are more cosmetic than any of the others. The first one is a nice pin that shows off Yao Guang. I didn’t attach it to anything, but I do like how it looks. It will probably go into my other pins and stamps collection.
Then we have what I call the bookmark. It is a pretty hefty piece of hard paper. They call it a ticket on the website, meant to be reminiscent of the tickets in Honkai: Star Rail that you use to summon characters. I think a good use for it is as a bookmark, though!
Last but not least, the remaining items included in the gift set are the acrylic standee and the actual bag to hold everything in. First is the acrylic standee. It is not just Yao Guang that is included with this, as you also get a little stand behind her that adds feathers to her model.
One thing that is very much a part of her character is the peacock feathers, so the people designing that standee knew it was necessary to add them to her design, even if it meant adding an extra part to the acrylic standee. There is also a small bag included that can fit all your travel items. This way, you won’t need to fill your pockets with a lot of these little items. Plus, it means you are less likely to lose something small.
One More Add-On
That was everything included in the Honkai: Star Rail X UGREEN Gift Set, but there is one other thing included in the actual collaboration. This is sold outside the gift set, likely because it is the thing most people will buy individually. That item is the power bank.
So what is the difference between the battery charger and a power bank? Essentially, it comes down to how many things can connect to it. The battery charger connects to one thing and can either charge the device connected to it or be charged itself. The power bank has more ports and can charge devices while it is also being charged. So if you only have enough outlets to charge one thing, you can charge the power bank while the power bank charges the other items you want to charge.
My Thoughts
I definitely love all the goodies included in the Honkai: Star Rail X UGREEN Gift Set. I do think the thing that gives you the most bang for your buck is probably the power bank, though. The look of all the items is amazing, so if you love the aesthetic of Yao Guang, then absolutely get this.
Also, I do think the best HoYoverse game to get a collaboration with power chargers and phone accessories would actually be Honkai: Star Rail. It is the only HoYoverse game I play on my phone. The other two HoYoverse games in my daily lineup I play on my computer or my PlayStation 5. So it makes sense that it is Honkai: Star Rail!
