Super Mario Party Jamboree Was The Best-Selling Exclusive In Japan In 2024

There were many surprises in 2024 for the Nintendo Switch, and one of the biggest ones was Super Mario Party Jamboree! This was the third entry in the mini-game series to come out to Switch, and many wondered how it would perform. Nintendo advertised it as the biggest game in the series on multiple levels, and as I pointed out in my review, that was an accurate statement. However, the question will always be about the sales that the game got, and while The Big N hasn’t unveiled the full number, we do know how well it’s done in Japan!

You see, Famitsu tallied up all the physical copies sold of games in the country in 2024 (they never count digital copies), and when you look at exclusives, Super Mario Party Jamboree was the top dog with 950K sold JUST in Japan. So, when you factor in the digital copies that undoubtedly sold there, the game has over a million units purchased just in Japan. That’s pretty surprising!

Now, when you factor in multiplatform releases, the Dragon Quest 3 Remake got top billing thanks to the Switch and PS5 totals, BUT the Switch version of that game sold 930K, which means Mario Party wins in that metric, too.

All this makes the wait for the new fiscal quarter numbers all the more intriguing because if the game did basically a million-plus in Japan, what did it do in countries like the US and UK?
