Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 PC Port Faces Performance Issues and Mixed Reviews

While Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 was a massive success on the PlayStation 5, its recent release on PC by PlayStation and Nixxes has been met with a slew of concerns. Despite the excitement surrounding its PC debut, players are reporting significant issues with the port, as reflected by the growing number of “Mixed” reviews on Steam, which has now surpassed 2,600 and continues to climb.

A deep dive into player feedback reveals the primary complaints center around poor optimization. Users are experiencing constant stuttering, errors related to outdated display drivers, and frequent crashes. Even high-end PCs with top-tier AMD and Intel processors, along with RTX 4080 and RTX 4090 GPUs, are struggling to run the game smoothly. Despite these technical challenges, some players report that the game runs “ok-ish” for them, though this lukewarm response hardly inspires confidence in the overall experience.

Marvels Spider-Man 2 PC port issues

Although I hesitate to tell people how to spend their money, it might be wise to hold off on purchasing Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 for PC until Nixxes releases further updates. Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time a PlayStation-exclusive title has been poorly optimized for PC, and many hoped this trend would be a thing of the past—especially for such a highly anticipated game.

However, the concerns have not gone unnoticed as Nixxes has released a hotfix to address some of the immediate issues, and the developer has promised more updates. Nixxes is committed to improving game stability, fixing crashes, and addressing bugs based on ongoing player feedback. This proactive approach gives hope that the game will become more stable in the coming weeks.

On a positive note, at least the PlayStation Network requirement to play the game has been removed before the release of the game. So, once these issues are addressed, everyone on PC will be able to play the game.
