Game Freak Releases Statement About Recent Pokemon Hack

Yeah, it was real, and it was really bad.
By Todd BlackOctober 13, 2024
Game Freak, Pokemon

So, you might have seen a lot of posts on the internet recently about an alleged hack that leaked out a BUNCH of news about the future of the Pokemon franchise. We actually posted one such piece about the alleged details of the upcoming Legends Z-A title, and more posts were made after that. Some of those “leaks” pointed to details about Gen 10, and how there might ben an MMO in the works! Regardless, this was a big deal, and in a post on their website, Game Freak confirmed that a leak happened, and they’re working to ensure that it doesn’t happen again.

Long story short, this past August, someone hacked their servers and grabbed not only info about the Pokemon franchise, but the information of 2600 employees! Yeah, that’s bad.

To their credit, Game Freak has “rebuilt” their servers so that they can’t be hacked like this again, so, hopefully, nothing too bad comes from this.

One thing to note is that because we know the leak is now real, you might see multiple “posts” stating certain “things” that the developer may or may not have done with the franchise or considered doing with it. Don’t believe everything you see. It is the internet, after all.
