New Darksiders Title Announced by Gunfire Games

Get hyped Darksiders fans as the day has finally come! After waiting for what feels like decades (it hasn’t been), THQNordic and Gunfire Games has revealed that it is working on a new Darksiders game. This was revealed during the THQ Nordic Showcase 2024 event that debuted on September 2, 2024.

While Gunfire Games hasn’t revealed any specifics about the new Darksiders game, they did release a new teaser. In this teaser we can see the Charred Council make an appear, coming to live and saying a single word – “Horseman.”

Now, this could be that they are summoning one specific Horseman and while this topic is up for debate, perhaps they are calling Strife. This is the only Horseman who hasn’t had his own game. Yes, he was in Darksiders III and Darksiders: Genesis, but could he finally be getting his own game?

Darksiders is one of my favorite gaming series, and while the series timeline is all over the damned place, the series kept me engrossed with its story-telling and gameplay, even though the latter kept switching before genres depending on which game you played.

As for what’s next, the series will likely follow after the events of Darksiders 1. Why would I say that, even though there are four other games? Well, as I mentioned, the timeline is messed up.

The start of the series is actually Darksiders Genesis, followed by Darksiders 1, but only up until you get killed by Straga. Darksiders III occurs in a parallel timeline, which isn’t apparent until later. That’s followed up by Darksiders II, which then picks up again after 1. At least that’s always been my understanding of it.

Regardless, I’m hyped to know that we’re going to get another Darksiders game, but I’m hoping this is going to be a legit Darksiders 4 that takes place after Darksiders 1. On a slightly sadder note, if Gunfire Games is working on this, I suppose that means no more Remnant games are in development at this time.

Still, while you wait, if you’ve never played any of the Darksiders games, now is as good of a time to do so.
