Bandai Namco to Host Gundam Breaker 4 Open Network Test for PS4, PS5 and Switch

Bandai Namco has revealed that it will host an Open Network Test for its upcoming Gundam title, Gundam Breaker 4. This ONT will be available for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch. While the game won’t be coming to the Xbox, the PC is being excluded due to, well, people constantly using the PC versions of games to data mine everything. To stop that from happening, PC gamers are being left on the bench.

If you’re familiar with how Bandai Namco runs its open network tests, these are just small slices of the game that are focused on ensuring that the servers used to host the game are up to the task. The last thing anyone wants is to purchase a game that requires online access, only for the online components to melt under the stress.

This open network test will take place from July 18-20th in North America and will take place during the following times:

  • July 17, 9 PM PDT / 12 PM EDT: Pre-download begins for PlayStation 4 and 5 and Nintendo Switch consoles
  • July 18, 5 PM PDT – 10 PM PDT / 8 PM EDT – 11 PM EDT: ONT available
  • July 18, 10 PM PDT / 1 PM EDT: 4-hour Maintenance; ONT unavailable
  • July 19, 2 AM PDT – 7 AM PDT  / 5 AM EDT – 10 AM EDT: ONT available
  • July 19, 7 PM PDT – July 20, 11 PM PDT / July 19, 10 PM EDT – July 21 2 AM EDT : ONT available

This ONT will allow PS5, PS5, and Nintendo Switch owners the chance to try their hand at Gundam Breaker 4, the first numbered entry in the series coming to the West. They can assemble magnificent Gunpla creations from 20+ Mobile Suits, getting a taste of the 250+ base suits that will be available in the full game at launch. They can then bring those creations to life, joining their friends and other players in multiplayer battles with up to 3 players in co-op, to overcome waves of enemy Gunpla, including giant boss mechas. While defeating enemies, players collect parts to make bigger and better Mobile Suits. The ONT will also include a series where players will be able to use their Gunpla creations as their avatars in the multiplayer lobby, where players can interact and show off before launching into co-op battle.

This will be the first time the Gundam Breaker series will be available in North America. So if you enjoy watching the Gundam Build Fighters or Gundam Build Divers anime or putting together Gunplay, you may want to check Gundam Breaker 4 out.

Gundam Breaker 4 will be released for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC (Steam) on August 29, 2024.
