Arc System Works and PlayStation recently released Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls, the latest tag-team fighting game set in the Marvel universe. While the PlayStation 5 version appears to be running well, the PC version has been dealing with performance issues ranging from slowdown and frame drops to lag.
That has not gone over well with PC players, especially considering how important stable performance is in a fighting game. Over on Steam, negative reviews have continued piling up throughout the weekend, with many players expressing frustration, threatening refunds, or uninstalling the game until things improve. At the time of this article, there are over 2,400 negative reviews, outpacing the positive reviews.
Some players have also started pointing the finger at PlayStation, given how much better the game appears to be running on PS5 compared to PC. Regardless of where the blame lands, it is clear the PC version needs some attention.
Thankfully, Arc System Works has been paying attention and announced that Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls will be taken offline for maintenance to address the issues.
MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls will be temporarily taken offline for maintenance starting today at 10PM JST / 6AM PT / 1PM UTC.
The maintenance end time is approximately 12AM JST / 8AM PT / 3PM UTC.
This update includes PC performance and stability improvements, including reduced lag and fixes for frame drops.
Please ensure you have finished any active matches before the maintenance begins. Thank you for your patience!
For those on the East Coast, that puts the maintenance window at approximately 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. EDT on August 10. More importantly, the update specifically targets PC performance, stability, lag, and frame drops, which are exactly the problems players have been complaining about.
Hopefully, this update does the trick, because the PC version clearly needs it. Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls is a fun fighting game, but PC players deserve an experience that runs just as well as it should.
