It’s the end of the fiscal year for Nintendo and on their March 2024 report, they revealed insights of how the company faired over the past twelve months and what it meant for them as a business through a weakening economy.
The good news for Nintendo is that they had experienced growth in the weakening economy and even better news for fans of Nintendo, they confirmed the upcoming Nintendo Switch successor.
In a tweet from the official Nintendo Twitter account (Japanese), it was stated that Nintendo’s President, Shuntaro Furukawa, will be making an announcement about the next console within this fiscal year which means between now and March 2025. In addition, he announced there will be a Nintendo Direct next month in June detailing the software lineup for the Nintendo Switch for the rest of 2024.
What the announcement was keen to say was that it was a “Nintendo Switch successor console.” This does not mean it is going to be a more powerful Switch. It could be an entirely different console altogether. For now, all we can do is sit back and wait for more details from Nintendo.
