Charles Martinet Is Stepping Back As The Voice Of Mario

They say that all good things must come to an end, and today is another one of those days. For today, it was revealed that Charles Martinet, the legendary voice of Mario, would be “stepping back” from the role. As you’ll see in the tweet below by Charles and Nintendo of America, Martinet will embrace a new role as the “Mario Ambassador.” Essentially, he’ll be acting as a brand ambassador to help promote the franchise to gamers all over the world.

Charles Martinet has been doing the voice for decades, and many have appreciated the energy he’s put into the lines he gets…as few as they are sometimes. In fact, fans were so enamored with Martinet that when Nintendo didn’t cast him as the beloved plumber for the Super Mario Bros Movie, many protested. That included big-name voice actors like Tara Strong, who felt that he deserved to be that character in arguably the franchise’s biggest thing.

Regardless, he seems to be happy with his new role, and that’s what matters.

My new Adventure begins! You are all Numba One in my heart! #woohoo !!!!!!! https://t.co/3YWYewlnXt
