Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake announced alongside MGS collection

By Keith MitchellMay 25, 2023
Metal Gear Solid 3- Snake Eater Announcement

During the May 2023 PlayStation Showcase, the rumors of Konami’s Metal Gear Solid titles coming to the PlayStation were confirmed. First announced was a remake of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, a title that many consider the best game in the series. Interesting that instead of calling it Metal Gear Solid 3, it’s now being called Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater.

In addition, the original voice actors, including David Hayter, will return to reprise their roles in the upcoming remake.

There’s no release date, but at least we have confirmation, right? What is interesting is that we don’t know who is handling the remake at this moment. Also, for those wondering, seeing how Hideo Kojima was ousted from Konami years ago and is now working in his own studio, he won’t be involved with this project.

This is perfect for me, as I never completed the original game. Now that the remake is coming, I’ll have a chance to play it from the start with better visual quality and a higher frame rate.

The Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake will be available for  PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and PC later this year.

Following that bit of news, it was also confirmed that the first three Metal Gear Solid titles would be released in what’s called the Metal Gear Solid Vol. 1 Master Collection, which will be released later in Fall 2023. This collection will include the following titles.

Metal Gear Solid Volume 1

  • Metal Gear
  • Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake
  • Metal Gear Solid (Including VR Missions/Special Missions)
  • Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty (HD Collection version)
  • Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater (HD Collection version)

Granted, this isn’t the first time we’ve received a Metal Gear Solid Collection, as the Metal Gear Solid HD collection was released for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. And while this did originally grace multiple platforms, the Metal Gear Solid Vol. 1 Master Collection is a PS5 exclusive at this moment, and there’s no word if this is a time exclusive or not and can be wishlisted now on the PlayStation Store.
