Let’s say you’re not a longtime fan of Tekken, but you recently watched Netflix’s Tekken Bloodline. If you haven’t, be warned as this will contain spoilers. For both the Netflix series and Tekken 2 and 3. A key character in Tekken: Bloodline and Tekken, Jun Kazuma, was murdered by the creature known as Ogre. But why?

Why Did Ogre Kill Jun Kazama in Tekken: Bloodline
Shortly after Tekken: Bloodline starts, we find both Jun and Jin Kazama in their home, with Jun suddenly acting odd. This is because the creature known as Ogre has come to find and kill her. But why? Ogre seeks out powerful fighters, fights them, and attempts to kill them. He’s like Akuma from Street Fighter, but more ruthless.
However, in Jun Kazama’s case, there’s an additional reason. Jun can sense dangerous spirits, which is why she was able to sense Ogre before it arrived on the scene. This is also how Jin Kazama was born.
In the first two Tekken games, another character and part of the Mishima bloodline, Kuzuya. Kuzuya was not only a powerful fighter but was possessed the devil gene. This gene made him very powerful, dangerous and enabled him to transform into the being known as Devil Kazuya. He was evil in its purest form.
However, after Tekken 2’s events, somehow, Kazuya and Jun fell in love. Some say it was because of Jun’s ability to sense and ward spirits, which made Kazuya feel more human. Regardless, they had a child, Jin Kazama. Following this, Kazuya is supposedly killed by Heihachi by being dropped into a volcano, leaving Jin, the only person in the world who possessed the devil gene. This would also set up a fateful encounter.
When Jin was old enough, Ogre would come for him. This is where the events of Tekken: Bloodline in the first episode take place. When Ogre came to that hunt where Jun and Jin lived, he was after Jin. Jun knew this and, as a mother, protected her child. Ogre Killed Jun but would have killed Jin if she wasn’t around. Still, right before Ogre killed Jun, he knocked out Jin. Oddly, he didn’t kill Jin as well.
This is why Jin eventually trained with Heihachi and went on to enter the Tekken 3 tournament.
The events that took place in Tekken: Bloodline are mostly what happened between Tekken 2 and Tekken 3. There are some slight changes, like the addition of Leroy Smith, who didn’t make his appearance until Tekken 7. But it does make sense to put him into the TV series, given his reasoning for hating Heihachi Mishima.
So there you have it, this is why Ogre killed Jun Kazama in both Tekken: Bloodline and after Tekken 2.
Jun Kazama is Gone but Not Forgotten
While Jun was killed off in the Tekken series, she has made a number of appearances after her death. She appeared in the spin-offs Tekken Tag Tournament 1 and 2 and Tekken Revolution. While not Jun, Asuka Kazama, who made her appearance in Tekken 5, is related to Jun and fights similarly to her.
If you haven’t watched Netflix’s Tekken Bloodline, but enjoy the Tekken game series, give it a watch. It’s one of the better game-to-video adaptions out there. It’s also short, with just six episodes, each under 30-minutes. As someone who’s played the Tekken series, I enjoyed it, despite a few liberties.
