Multiversus Open Beta Kicks Off on July 26th

By Keith MitchellJuly 18, 2022
Multiversus, Wonder Woman

Get ready for more Multiversus, as the open beta will begin on July 26th. However, if you’re lucky, you may be able to get a head start with early access on July 19th, 2022.

Unlike the prior closed beta, this beta will include quite a bit more content. This time 16 characters, including my beloved Iron Giant, who was revealed back in May 2022, will be playable. Eight stages, including the Batcave and Scooby Doo’s Haunted Mansion stages.

You may recall that I had a chance to play the Multiversus closed beta, and I simply enjoyed what I played. With the open beta approaching, I’m looking forward to more people to play with and against.

To get you hyped for the open beta, a new gameplay trailer has been released.

Now, while you’re probably asking what makes this game any different from, say, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. To which, I’d say, this is more of a team-oriented game. There are free-for-all modes and even a 1 vs. 1 mode, but where the game shines is its 2 vs. 2 mode. This mode takes advantage of the various characters, as each one has a specific role, functioning as a team.

Unlike SSB, Multiversus characters have given a role; Assassin, Bruiser, Support, and Tank. Players can work in tandem and utilize their skills to attempt to pull off a win. And unlike Nintendo’s brawler, here you’ll find characters from Warner Bros. properties. Superman, Jake the Dog, Iron Giant, Wonder Woman, Batman, Shaggy (Scooby Doo), Steven Universe, and more.

There’s even a possibility that anime characters may make their way into the game, according to the co-founder of Player First Games, the developer of the title.

yes, working hard to make it a reality

There’s still no official release date for Multiverse, and the game will be available on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Sadly, the brawler isn’t making its way to the Nintendo Switch.
