Mario Strikers Battle League was a major announcement at the Nintendo Direct that we had in February. Mainly because fans have been BEGGING for this next title in the Mario Strikers line to come out for a while. And based on all that we’ve seen so far, Battle League is going to be the most intense version of the series yet. To that end, the overview trailer has been released by Nintendo to give some key details on gameplay.
Like before, your goal is simple, to get the ball into the net in order to score points. But, you’ll be able to get quite physical with how you do it, including tackling other players, unleashing items, and more. A new mechanic in the game is “Team Tackle”, where you tackle your own teammate in order to push them forward for defense or offense. Then there’s the return of the Hyper Strike, where you’ll get to unleash a powerful move that can help you get 2 points if you land it in the net.
Add to that, there’s the Strikers Club online play. You’ll get to build your own team, design your uniforms, pick which home-field you want, and then get up to 19 others in your club so you can fight others to get points, up your ranking, and try to be the top club by the end of the season!
