Popular Voice Actor Troy Baker Partners with VoiceVerse NFT

Troy Baker Supports Voice Verse NFT

As of late, you can’t go anywhere without someone mentioning NFTs. It’s a big deal to some, though I managed not to be interested. However, when one of the biggest names in voice acting, Troy Baker, gets involved, you tend to wonder if it’s worth it or not.

Today, Troy Baker announced on Twitter that he is parting with Voiceverse NFT, to explore new ways of bringing tools to new creators.

“I’m partnering with VoiceverseNFT to explore ways where together we might bring new tools to new creators to make new things, and allow everyone a chance to own & invest in the IP’s they create. You can hate. Or you can create. What’ll it be?” Said Troy Baker in his announcement.

We all have a story to tell.
You can hate.
Or you can create.

I honestly don’t know if Troy is aware of the issues NFTs have already caused in its short lifespan or what. Especially with the last bit of hating or creating. To me, that sounds very ignorant.

Most of the replies regarding Troy’s recent news haven’t been favorable, and understandably so. When it comes to NFTs and ownership, most haven’t been convinced that it is either worthwhile or needed. I tend to find myself in that camp, as I wonder about the ramifications that will ultimately come from this. For those who don’t understand or get why I’m cautious about this all, just look below.

Imagine being the only gamer who owns the one voice of a particular video game character that exists in the internet. You can now talk and create content in that voice.

Why would anyone want that? You mean to tell me someone can possibly get the voice of Sonic the Hedge or Mario? They’re the only ones to be able to use it? How is that enforced and what do that mean to other medias?

Yeah, I don’t like the idea of NFTs and its lofty claims of ownership, yet here we are. So far, the only things I’ve seen from NFTs have been to the benefit of those who have profited from other people’s works.

What do you think about the recent development? Let us know in the comments.
