Charlie Day Talks Recording Super Mario Movie Lines

By Todd BlackJanuary 29, 2022
Super Mario Movie, Charlie Day, Luigi

The “buzz” if you will around the Super Mario Movie is…well, it’s cautious, mainly because it’s been in the works for years, and then we found out that it was coming out this year with a voice cast that included Chris Pratt, Seth Rogen, Anya Taylor-Joy, Jack Black and more…and we’re really not sure about it all. Another one of the cast is Charlie Day as Luigi and he had some interesting things to say about the movie as of late.

In an interview with Jimmy Kimmel, he talked about the movie and how he was recording the voice lines for it…but couldn’t really talk about it.

“I’m playing Luigi. In fact I was just recording that this morning and I’d love to tell you all about it but they are top secret with that stuff.”

And when asked about the script for the Super Mario Movie he said…

“I know nothing. I show up and they’re like, “You say this and you say that.” And it’s all very funny and good. I walk out and there’s like two guys in overalls with like hammers that are like, “Don’t you tell nobody nothing about this Charlie! I swear to God, we’re gonna get your kneecaps, we’re gonna break your neck!””

He also noted that he doesn’t voice lines with Chris Pratt, that they go in one at a time to do their lines. So yeah, there’s a lot of mystery around this film, and we won’t find out more until the first trailer arrives sometime this year.
