It’s been a long while since anyone has heard anything about WB’s Hogwarts Legacy. Outside of the controversy, that is. However, we’ve received a small update that another developer, Studio Gobo, is now involved with the project. They will now be working alongside of Avalanche Software to get the title completed.
You’re probably wondering just who the heck is Studio Gobo, as was I. So I did some research and while the studio hasn’t developed its own game, it has assisted on some very well-known games. Titles such as Ubisoft’s For Honor and Hyper Scape, and several of Disney’s Infinity games to name a few.

I know this isn’t the update you were looking forward to, but it seems WB is keeping the wraps on the game until they have something to show. The last time we saw anything from Hogwarts Legacy was back in 2020, in the form of a trailer.
For those not keeping score, Hogwarts Legacy is an upcoming open-world action RPG, set in the world of the Harry Potter books. Actually, I’ll just rip the official summary, as it does a better job than I ever could — seeing how there’s not much info to go off of.
Hogwarts Legacy is an immersive, open-world action RPG set in the world first introduced in the Harry Potter books. Now you can take control of the action and be at the center of your own adventure in the wizarding world. Embark on a journey through familiar and new locations as you explore and discover fantastic beasts, customize your character and craft potions, master spell casting, upgrade talents, and become the wizard you want to be.
Experience Hogwarts in the 1800s. Your character is a student who holds the key to an ancient secret that threatens to tear the wizarding world apart. You have received a late acceptance to the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and soon discover that you are no ordinary student: you possess an unusual ability to perceive and master Ancient Magic. Only you can decide if you will protect this secret for the good of all, or yield to the temptation of more sinister magic.
Discover the feeling of living at Hogwarts as you make allies, battle Dark wizards, and ultimately decide the fate of the wizarding world. Your legacy is what you make of it.
As for when Hogwart’s Legacy will be released, well, that’s anyone’s guess. First, it was leaked, but then got official confirmation of its existence. It was supposed tp be released in 2021, didn’t show up at E3 2021, and then got delayed until 2022. So hopefully we’ll see it sometime next year.
Now, I’m not the biggest fan of the Harry Potter books, but I did mildly enjoy the films. My wife, on the other hand, seemed very interested in this game; and she has never played an RPG in her life. Oh, you can bet I’m looking forward to seeing her play Hogwarts Legacy; whenever it gets released.
