Mortal Kombat 11 Has Sold 12 Million Copies Worldwide

Mortal Kombat 11 came out over 2 years ago, but the impact that it left has been felt in all the best ways. The game explored the deep lore of the franchise via time-travel and allowed beloved characters both new and old to interact. The game was a big success, but now we know exactly how big thanks to Warner Bros.

According to them, Mortal Kombat 11 has sold over 12 million copies worldwide. The title was already the fastest-selling game in the franchise, but this seals it. Furthermore, the franchise has apparently sold over 73 million copies in told since the franchise started. Which co-creator Ed Boon couldn’t be prouder of:

“When Mortal Kombat launched nearly 30 years ago, I never dreamed it would grow into the franchise it is today with more than 73 million games sold,” Boon said. “We have some of the most passionate fans in the world and we appreciate the support they have shown us over the years.”

What’s next for the franchise is unknown (though its rebooted movie came out earlier this year on HBO Max), but given these sales, you can bet the games will return.
