Google Stadia Loses More Talent As They Relocate To Haven Studios

By Keith MitchellMay 5, 2021

It looks like Google Stadia’s woes are getting worse by the day. Earlier this week, Google Stadia’s Head of Product, John Justice, left the company. Now it’s being reported that he’s not the only one, as several others have also jumped ship.

This includes Former General Manager Sebastien Puel, Jonathan Dankokff, Erwann Le Rouzic, Francis Denoncourt, Pierre-Marc Berube (Former Graphics Programmer), and Corey May (Former Head of Creative Services and Publishing).  All six of these former Google Stadia employees have left the company and joined Jade Raymond’s new studio, Haven Studios. And yes, Jade Raymond was also a former employee of Google Stadia, right before Google shuttered its in-house development studio.

With Jade opening her own studio and having worked with these people already, I’d imagined she recognized the talent those individuals possessed and wanted them to come work with her. Currently, Haven is working on an unannounced title for PlayStation.

As for Google, the misfortunes keep on rolling in. With the loss of so much talent and the closure of its gaming studio, you have to wonder just how long Google will keep the service alive. Google is notorious for killing off products that don’t either meet expectations or when they get bored of them. And it’s looking like Stadia is both. Sadly, we’ve reviewed the tech powering Google Stadia, and we thought it had potential – and it still does. Google lacks the foresight to take advantage of the gaming service and completely misjudged how gamers would receive it.

If you ask me, I don’t expect Stadia to service past the end of this year.
